Q&A With Jamie Hill CEO of iNovate Marketing

Tell us a bit about iNovate Marketing, LLC.

iNovate Marketing, iNc is a digtal marketing and website company. We eat, breath and conquer anything that has to with marketing. We are able to build you an amazing website, but our biggest passion is getting that site out the the largest group of YOUR buyers. We take a different approach then a lot of other Marketing companies. We don’t just want a few months of your business we want your business for life. Which means we take more time, and care with what ever your account needs to get you to where you want to be at. We don’t just focus on one aspect of Marketing, we focus on what works for your business, PPC, SEO, SEM, etc.

What gave you the idea for your business and how did it start?

iNovate Marketing, iNc was the brain child of Kirk Musick. He was tired of hearing how a lot of small business owners where closing their doors due to poor marketing, or because they where paying a marketing company that did not care about their business. His dream was to offer a affordable way to do web design and marketing, with out killing the small business.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Teaching. I love working with other agency owners, and our clients to help them understand what marketing means, how how it effects each aspect of business. When I take a business owner on as a client, or as a mentor, I no longer look at them as a lead or client, they are FAMILY.

What are your keys to making yourself productive?

I have to have every day laid out. Plus I treat my business as a job. While it is a passion of mine, by laying it out like a job, I make sure every day I am able to get my goals done. Set goals for yourself, Daily, Weekly, and yearly goals.

Tell us one long-term goal in your career.

I want to help 5,000 business owners in the next 5 years. These are not clients, these are other business owners who take my classes, I mentor, or small business owners who just need the help, and I am able to lay out a plan for them.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?

Owning a business is not about the money. You maybe own a successful business and make a lot of money, however when you own a business, you are doing it because you love it, not because you will get rich. If you are doing this to get rich, you will never succeed.

What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?

Follow your gut. Pick a path, and stick with it. There are plenty of “successful” marketing companies out there. There is a lot of self call experts. You need to learn from the people that are really really making it. The ones that are making it, don’t have time to push out AD’s talking about how they have made it work. They are the ones that will be giving free content to you, before they pitch a class. When your ready to take a course on building your business you need to check out Troy Dean, from WP Elevation and his team. They are no nonsense folks, that will help you lay out your business to make it work for you and for you to make money.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

I love spending time with my family. My 3 kids and wife, are my life. I am building this business for them to have a business when they grow up. I work hard, and because of that, it allows me to spend time with my family, camping hunting, reading, and just messing around. I also enjoy reading a good book, watching Game Of Thrones, and also watch The Profit, and Shark Tank. It’s amazing what you can learn.

Name a few influential books you’ve read and/or websites you keep up with that you’d recommend to readers.

There are so many, however this is the stack I give people to start with:

Pitch Anything- Written by Orne Klaff
Eat That Frog- Brian Tracy
The Simple Truths of Service- Ken Blanchard and Barbara Glanz
From Single to Scale By My buddy Michael Killen
