His road to this role was built on determination, experience and the desire to excel beyond even his own greatest aspirations. He thrives in the role of consulting with various companies of all sizes, helping them determine the best structures for their success.
Jason Borrevik was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, in the United States. As a child, he enjoyed playing football and tennis, but he had a special love for basketball as his grandfather had played in the NBA.
In 1994, Jason Borrevik obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Economics, graduating Manga Cum Laude. He followed his Economics degree with a Law degree. The University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall, was home to his legal education. While there, he worked as a legal intern for the Oakland Raiders and discovered he had a desire to potentially work as a sports agent.
With his Law degree in hand, Jason accepted a position as an associate with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati. He worked with their Executive Compensation and Benefits Group. This group enabled him to specialize in assisting technology companies with aspects of their legal, tax, regulatory and accounting issues relating to executive compensation matters. He thrived in this role working with both company management and key company stakeholders including board members and investors.
In 2005, Jason Borrevik joined the company Compensia as a management consultant. Here he provides objective expert advice to compensation committees and senior management at a wide variety of technology and life science companies. He is able to help each company with the development of executive pay structures that drive long-term alignment with key company growth measures (such as profitability) and investor interests.
When he is not working to help a company with its compensation objectives, he enjoys quiet moments spending time with his family.
Tell us a bit about what you do.
We focus on how companies compensate their people and the related taxation and regulatory aspects to help bring the best success. I spend time with corporate leaders to determine what a company needs to thrive. From there I do an assessment on their company’s structure and employees. From there, I help them determine the best path forward. It’s really a thrilling place to be. I know any advice I give is for the benefit and long-term success of all of the people I speak with.
What gave you the idea for (what you do/your company)? How did it start?

Strive for a work and life balance. Create the best possible path forward that includes both working and playing so you don’t get burnt out long before you should. Focus on your family and friends but don’t forget that hard work is the cornerstone to your future success. Finding that balance isn’t easy, but when you’re working for it, it’ll come together. That is really the case with everything. You don’t want life to pass you by while you’re working too often. You also don’t want to lose touch with what is most important, your family and your friends. They are the people who help you recharge, motivate you for success, and fuel your joy.
