Tell us a bit about GODBG Music Group LLC.

GODBG Music Group LLC. Is a record label/Multimedia Company that I’ve established for the purpose of helping independent artists with everything from distribution, promotion, PR campaigns, track mastering, Spotify playlist pitching and royalty education and management. The company purpose is to empower.

What gave you the idea for your business and how did it start?

The initial reason why started the company was because Im also an artist. I wanted to control every aspect of my career  on the business side, so the more that I researched and educated myself I began thinking if “Most artists don’t even know just how intricate this stuff can be.” Understanding your publishing rights, owning your masters, how to make sure you’re collecting all of the money owed to you from royalties, registering with the appropriate societies. It can be a daunting task. But it’s important to have the knowledge at your disposal so that you at least understand what is going on. I also love helping people and I love music so I gave myself the opportunity to do so.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite thing about my job is working with all kinds of different people, and the fact that no other record label operates how we do, in terms of educating the artists, and how close are relationships are with every client we work with.

What are your keys to making yourself productive?

The keys to keeping myself productive is getting out of bed early and not hitting that snooze button, and being very conscious about my time management. Everyday I’m trying to come up with better solutions to solve problems, I’m always reading new books to inspire me, Im always researching anything that I want or feel I need to know. And I never make excuses for anything. Accountability is one of the most important traits as an entrepreneur. If I need something done I either find a way to do it myself or I find someone that can. For me there is no “I can’t” in my vocabulary.

Tell us one long-term goal in your career.

One long term goal that I have set in place is to be worth a quarter billion dollars by the time I’m 35 years old.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?

I think the most valuable lesson that I’ve learned throughout the course of my career is if you don’t ask for help, how is anyone suppose to know that you need it.

What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?

For anyone that aspires to succeed in this industry I would say you have to really believe in yourself and in your ability to accomplish your goals. There are going to be days where you’re playing shows for 20 people in the beginning, when no one believes in you or your company. People closest to you won’t support what you’re trying to accomplish. You’ll be by yourself doing everything running on 2 hours of sleep. You may feel like its not really worth it after going a while without the results you feel you deserve, but you gotta persevere as long as this is something that you truly want  and believe you will succeed in.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

My favorite things to do outside of work is spending time with the family and close friends. Im very family oriented, thats just how my dad raised me. And whenever I’m with my close friends its always a good time, I never laugh as hard as I do when. I’m with them, and after those long weeks or even months of nonstop grinding, I need that to revitalize my spirit. I also love the club thats like my type of environment  definitely.

Name a few influential books you’ve read and/or websites you keep up with that you’d recommend to readers.

My favorite book hands down would be The Alchemist. Whenever Im feeling a lil lost or lacking direction that book I a great source of inspiration for me. But 2 books that change the way I think about my productivity is “The Other 8 Hours” by Robert Pagliarini and “ The Motivation Manifesto” by Brendon Burchard. Those are 2 must read books for any entrepreneur.
