Q&A with Cameron Dietz, Singer-Songwriter and Producer

Tell us a bit about your career.

To be honest, it’s been a weird ride so far. My team and I have been working at this music thing for over a decade now. Although we aren’t where we’d like to be yet, we’ve had some success, and I’ll never take that for granted. This year is poised to be a big one.

How did you get started, and what inspired you?

I’ve always loved music since as young as I can remember. Music got me through a lot growing up and continues to do so. I didn’t really start singing seriously until high school. I was inspired by a love interest and singing was how I felt was the best way to express myself.

What’s your favorite thing about what you do?

Creating something that people can relate to and maybe help them get through what they have going on is important to me. It’s a cool feeling when you can help people with your art.

What are your keys to making yourself productive?

As I previously stated, this has been my dream for as long as I can remember. Being productive towards it is literally all I know. When you want something that bad, the rest is second nature.

Tell us one long-term goal in your career.

I’d like to be able to help my community. I do as much as I can now, but I have big ideas that I’d love to bring to life.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?

Surround yourself with the best circle that you can, even if it’s just two people that you can truly trust. I’d rather have two people that I can really trust than have a whole team of people that have ulterior motives.

What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?

Keep going. Don’t give up. It’s hard sometimes, but never settle.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

Relax. I feel like I don’t have free time nowadays. Any chance I can get to just chill, I take it.

Name a few influential books you’ve read and/or websites you keep up with that you’d recommend to readers.

I’ve been reading a lot of Stephen King lately. Website-wise, I prefer none. Stay off your phones kids. Go outside.
