Connor Mulvey

Connor Mulvey grew up in Chicago, Illinois, with a family who worked hard to instill the love of all things unique. He watched his parents work hard and achieve amazing things. By achieving those things, they took him through life visiting new cultures, attending the best schools, and introducing him to museums with the most exquisite art in the world. This cultivated his desire to do all the things his parents were able to do and much more.

When it came time to choose a college, Connor Mulvey didn’t apply to the local community colleges. He wanted to ensure his path to success was paved with the most challenging environments. This included Loyola University, located on the eastern coast of the United States. While there, he worked hard and graduated with honors on the dean’s list. This opened the path for his post graduate employment opportunities. In time, Connor Mulvey found his home with The Genesis Group, LLC where he now spearheads business to business relations and marketing management.

Despite his busy schedule, Connor Mulvey makes it a point to enjoy himself as well. In his free time, he finds keeping healthy is both enjoyable and important. His hobbies include weight lifting, playing golf, and whenever possible, running.

Have you always wanted to do what you are doing now?

I have. Well, it is more of a case that I have always wanted to do something where I feel like I am making a positive impact in the lives or companies of the people I work with. By doing so, I am also able to have a positive impact on the company I work for as well. I can do this through a variety of methods and enjoy the challenge each customer and business present.

When I can solve their issues, I am able to create a greater impact and extend out from there.

What does it mean to you to be in this business?

Being able to organize and develop action plans for every client and then watch my team execute those plans means that I am helping those who need my help to grow and develop their goals. Helping others reach the goals they desire is moving and motivational. Reaching milestone after milestone with the clients is like reaching my own goal. There is nothing like it.

What do you do to stay motivated?

Really, I touch base with my team each day. The mornings are spent getting up to date with where our team is at with our clients. From there I am able to determine what has or is working for the clients. Whatever is not working becomes a challenge to overcome. This helps me to focus on achieving for my client, thus motivating me each day.

What is your secret to staying productive and staying on top of tasks?

I use a lot of timers and planned out lists. For each block of time I assign a task. Every priority on my list gets a block of time for the day. By the time I get through the day I have been able to achieve the vast majority of what needs to be done. It is effective.

What aspects of your job do you find the most fulfilling?

Hearing that a plan laid out for a customer was both effective and helpful is amazing and exhilarating. Seeing the results of the effort, time, and planning means that a company we are working with has reached a goal. That means we, as a team, have been able to develop the right impact for the right client at the best possible time.

What aspects of your job do you find the most challenging?

Not everything works how you think it should. Sometimes your ideas crash and burn. That’s not a fun result or situation to be in. You have to know that will happen, but you also must know that just because one objective wasn’t reached there are often more opportunities to produce results, even with the same client.

I just know that I hate to let my team, or my clients down.

What are your passions?

My honest to goodness favorite passion is staying healthy when I’m not helping new companies reach their goals. I enjoy running marathons a couple of times a year and I’ve considered doing an iron man competition. They are really challenging and doing one would really break my own records with each of the involved sports.

What inspires you every day?

My team inspires me. Whether they are above me or below me my team is creative, inspirational, and fun to work with. It may sound corny to say that, but I truly enjoy working where I am working with the people I work with. The drive they share is incredible and amazing and more than that it is contagious.

What career choices would you recommend for someone starting in your industry?

Get a good education, but don’t neglect social skills. I am not saying to be a college partier, but instead be involved with finance clubs and organizations. By connecting with like-minded individuals right from the beginning you’ll be able to develop quality, long term networks that will help you learn and grow in business.

If you could start all over again, would younger Connor Mulvey still choose the same career? Why or why not?

I would never have imagined being in this industry when I began, but I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. It is both a challenge and reward that comes at you every single day. It is knowing you’re having a positive impact on someone’s business while working hard and enjoying the results of their excitement and pride. Knowing you’re able to help someone is far better than anything else you could describe.

So, I guess, the short answer is that I would pick everything I have already done to do it again. I would hope to see the same results and to be paired with the same amazing teams. There is nothing like it in the world.
