Tell us a bit about We R H.O.P.E.

We R H.O.P.E. is a non profit organization that brings anxiety education, coaching, trauma informed interactive services and suicide prevention to individuals and schools struggling to find affordable support options.

What gave you the idea for your business and how did it start?

The idea came when working in the private Mental health field. My business partner and I thought it to be unfair that it would cost a family upwards of $90,000 for 3 months if impatient services. What I realized was that we were only helping the top 1% but what about all of the other children in this country. We new there had to be a better way and so We R H.O.P.E. Was born. With the idea that everyone can get help regardless of income.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is teaching people they can learn to work through their anxieties. Most importantly that they are not alone and have support.

What are your keys to making yourself productive?

What makes me productive is loving what I do. I believe that when you live what you do it never feels like work. This is just my life and this is how I choose to live it by Helping Other People Everyday.

Tell us one long-term goal in your career.

One long-term goal is to see We R H.O.P.E. and it’s  work be the norm in schools throughout the country.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?

The most valuable lesson I have learned in my career is that everyone has opportunity to create change in their lives but not everyone is ready to except it.

What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?

If others what to succeed in the Mental Health field the best advice I can give is to check you personal stuff at the door. The work you will do is never about you and if some it turns out to be then you made it that way and need to re-evaluate if this is what you want to do. Lastly be prepared to be empathetic, compassionate and kind. Without those traits you will not do your clients any real justice.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

My favorite things to do outside of work is just relax and do nothing. I’m always on the go and when I’m not working I love to do nothing. The other thing I may do is ride my Harley, hang out with the kids or call some family and catch up.

Name a few influential books you’ve read and/or websites you keep up with that you’d recommend to readers.

I have to be honest, I’m not a big reader. If I want to know something I search out the specifics and read any and everything I can about it in the moment or moments to come. A great  resource that I use for data is the Child Mind Institute website. They are great. I have many books on trauma, behavior, cognitive behavioral therapy, coaching meditation and ect. I have not read any front to back. I get what I need and keep moving. The main reason for this is that science in the brain and mental illness is always changing. What was true yesterday is not or may not be today due to a new study. I believe in taking what we need that applicable and moving on.
