What gave you the idea for Perssonal Health Chiropractic? How did it start?

I have always wanted to have my own office. I wanted to grow my own business.  I had many mentors throughout my career. I paid close attention to all that they had to offer and I learned a lot from them. I visited many other chiropractic offices and other facilities to learn enough to recognize what I wanted to have for my own practice. Combining my chiropractic experience with my desire to operate my own business was the perfect combination.  I have been able to develop my practice using the information I gleaned from each chiropractic office. When I launched Perssonal Health Chiropractic I was well prepared.

What’s your favorite thing about your chosen profession?

My favorite thing about my chosen profession is dealing with patients on a regular basis. We want to make sure that their well-being is addressed and that they are happy and hopefully, not in pain. We pay attention to detail with everyone that we see. We want to make sure they are happy when they leave, and confident that they will come back to us whenever necessary. I enjoy knowing that we provide a great service within our community.  I have had many patients thank me via an email or perhaps during their next visit. It gives me great satisfaction to know that I can ease someones’ pain.

What keys to being productive can you share with us?

Some of the keys to being productive is to eat well and stay hydrated to keep your energy and strength up. Set your goals for the day. Be sure that the goals on your list are attainable and realistic. Be organized with everything that you do. Great communication skills are another part of being both productive and successful. Also having a team of positive like-minded staff members that you can count on to do what they do best, is a must.

Tell us one long-term goal in your career.

One of the long-term career goals is to continue to expand the practice. We have considered the possibility of becoming a facility with several alternative healthcare practices such as acupuncture, massage, or spa treatments. Eventually, when I retire, I would like to hand over a magnificently strong practice to a person capable of doing the same.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?

I think the most valuable lesson that I’ve learned is how to delegate. It is easy to become overwhelmed when you try to do everything all by yourself. I learned to trust the people that I hire to do what they do best. Learning to delegate gives me the strength to do what I do best.

What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?

Being a chiropractor is great but it is not easy. Anyone who may aspire to succeed as a chiropractor should visit as many offices as possible to find out exactly what they would like to have should they decide to open their own practice. Healthy or not they should also get treated by a chiropractor. It takes passion and commitment in order to stay the course. It is a challenge, but it can be done.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

I am a true family man. I spend most of my time enjoying my family. I like to coach, and I do that proudly. We like to play games together. Also, we take walks. We spend just good family time together.

Name a few influential books you’ve read and/or websites you keep up with that you’d recommend to readers.

When reading books, I recommend reading leadership books that will guide you along that path. There are a few excellent websites that I would recommend, such as Nexalearning.com is a wonderful website, as well as patientmedia.com, imatrix.com, and elitehealthandwellness.com. When I created my website, I linked some of the information to share with patients or for doctors.

What advice would you give a person who wants to become a chiropractor?

The first thing I would tell anyone considering a career as a chiropractor would be to go and be treated by a chiropractor. Even if you don’t have any specific injuries it is ok. Just go to a chiropractor and get treated. Also, shadow other chiropractic offices. Speak with as many chiropractors as possible. Make sure becoming a chiropractor is something that you are truly passionate about. This is something that you have to be passionate about because going through the chiropractic program is challenging. You must make sure that you are up for the challenge.
