Q&A With Christian Shane, Publisher of Society International

My favorite thing about the job is the experience – every day presents new challenges and growth. I get a chance to learn from people, not only from the New York area, but all over the world! For this, I am grateful.

Tell us a bit about Society Media and Society International.

Society Media was established in 2000 headquartered in New York. The publishing group is mission-driven, meaning every magazine we publish gives a portion of advertising dollars to charity, veterans, homeless and/or animal welfare. Magazine genres include travel/style passions, bachelor life, vegetarian deliciousness, super-star entrepreneurs and the sexy mystique of the avant garde – you can find all these amazing titles at www.societymedia.net.

Society International was founded in 2017 to combat animal cruelty – globally and locally. After realizing the chance of extinction for some, the rise in poaching and abandonment, how can one not get involved? We advocate for the vegetarian lifestyle and will do our best to make a positive impact and hopefully inspire others.

What gave you the idea for your business and how did it start?

The business has always been a passion and feel as though it is my “calling.” After evaluating the industry, I felt there was a void – added value. To present day, we still offer a virtual concierge, complimentary champagne soirée and web design to sponsors. Honestly, I have had many challenges and have failed on several attempts. The start began when I decided to surrender to nothing and keep moving forward.

I would advise others aspiring to succeed to be very resourceful, manage your time and sleep and create your own identity. People will remember you if you have a distinct style, or je ne sais quoi!

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
