Interview with Candy Scott, CEO of TechNoirCandy LLC
Tell us a bit about TechNoirCandy LLC.
TechNoirCandy is creating and bringing cyberpunk casual streetwear. I create clothing for the modern rebel, be it yogis, acrobats, ballet dancers, festival goers, software engineers, burners, glam girls, SciFi lovers, Synthwave lovers, and the wild at heart.
I am a mixed media artist and the designing of the clothes or homewares is the end product of collages, sculptures and photography and graphic design.
What gave you the idea for your business and how did it start?
I have always been into fashion and the Cyberpunk movement and the Tech Noir genre from as long as I can remember. I started created graphics inspired by theories of quantum mechanics and entanglement, yogic philosophies, time travel theories and genetic memories. At the time I was working as a dance instructor and wearing a lot of leggings and from them I decided to design my own leggings and then I started creating men’s leggings “meggings” as well. This clothing is Cyberpunk Casual -because of the ease of wear. The clothing is striking enough to go out in but also comfortable -sometimes some cyberpunk inspired clothing can be not so. I also live in the urban Southwest where temperatures can soar to 115° for quiet a bit of the year -my cyberpunk casual clothing isn’t too stuffy to wear in the summer heat.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I love creating -it makes me incredibly happy to see other people feel happy and inspired when they wear my line of clothing. What are your keys to making yourself productive?
I carve out time at 4 a.m. to practice Kundalini yoga -this meditative practice helps to set the rest of the day. I have also learned that we really don’t have as much time as we might think we have -so I commit to getting a project done and think of any possible scenarios that might prevent completion. I decide early on if the project is really something I am going to commit to and what will be required of me to complete it.
Tell us one long-term goal in your career.
To continue to provide premium clothing and homewares that bring a smile to the wild at heart.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?
Everyone has something to contribute to Humanity. Every career path seems to be busting at the seams with people and talent and it can feel like maybe there would be too much competition, but there is always room for passionate people and new ideas. At the end of the day everyone is bringing something new and different. Whatever career path you choose execute with it bravery and loads of kindness.
What have you learned through the course of your career?
Wisdom and learning is never wasted -it comes back ten fold.
What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
I love to hang out with my family and create art.
