Q&A With Actor Sharrie McCain
Tell us a bit about your acting career.
I’ve been acting for about 14 years now. In 2015 I decided to focus on film and tv. Since then I’ve had CO-STAR roles on investigation discovery shows , lead and supporting roles in films. SAG roles on sag new media projects. I starters producing 5 years ago and since then I did two SAG new media projects and multiple short films. I won multiple awards in film festivals with my writing partner Patrick Burnett (Actor , Writer , and Producer ). I was nominated for awards with my cast and crew.
What gave you the idea for your business and how did it start?
I decided I wanted to create my own content so I create short films and soon features. I had flaws in my films and learned the business side. I take my filmmaking seriously now. I take my acting career seriously now. I invested so much in it. I keep going and work hard with my team.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I love that I can just bring a character to life in my acting career. I get to play so many characters that I love and create back stories for them. As for filmmaking I love writing a script that touch my heart and bring actors on the project who is serious about bringing my characters to life. I love to help people and inspire others in my career.
What are your keys to making yourself productive?
I always practice self-taping with my auditions. I look for casting projects on my own and network . I am studying other crew members to get better at filmmaking . I’m always learning from other actors . I love working on my craft every day. I’m working on bettering myself.
Tell us one long-term goal in your career.
In the next five years I hope to work somewhere in tv and film full time. I will be joining SAG soon. I plan to try to get CO-STAR and guest star roles. As for filmmaking put out my first feature out.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned through the course of your career?
I learned to have patience. I learned to just continue to work on my craft because the more you invest the more you see progress. Always be willing to learn something new.
What advice would you give to others aspiring to succeed in your field?
Keep working hard. Keep working on your craft on and off set . Look for castings on your own. Network and stay professional on sets. As for filmmakers do not rush your projects . Learn the business side now .
What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
I love to take long walks . I love to catch up on my tv shows and listen to music . I love to travel when I can . I am always picking up a new hobby .
